On the course
Christmas is here but perhaps it does not feel as Christmassy as one would hope. The work continues on the course with the 3rd bunker repair being finished and the turfing around the 8th mat also complete. The 8th red tee has now been fully stripped and currently new irrigation is being installed to give a far more even coverage and to cover the entirety of the new teeing surface. It has been raining it seems now for a week or more every day, we have therefore not been able to cut greens before the Christmas break but if all stays dry we will have greens cut and holes changed ready for the Christmas Cross Country which is always great fun.
The disease pressure has softened a little and all scars are beginning to heal, this is actually helped by the unseasonably high temperatures, 13 degrees yesterday!! I am sure this will not last and in the new year we will see the true winter start.
All in all a great end to the year with the course sitting extremely clean and very minimal wear and tear damage considering the high temperatures, increase foot traffic and rainfall, all surfaces are going into the Christmas break in very good condition which bodes well for the winter period in Jan and Feb and then onto the start of spring in Mar.
The fortnight ahead
Have a fantastic Christmas and a Happy New Year.
